April 23, 2016: This was our first time to get Todd Wieslander, the driver of car #62, behind the wheel for a quick shakedown. We went to FedEx Stadium for a solo/autocross event which is a road course marked by orange cones and you are racing against the clock. These are tight and highly technical courses and at speeds under 65 mph. Our car, though not well suited for this type of road course, did very well with no mechanical issues. Please click on the link for a Go Pro ride along.
Our car #62 will undergo a rigorous technical inspection on Saturday April 24 and if our car meets all of the SCCA safety requirements a SCCA logbook will be issued. This permits the car to participate in all SCCA practice and competition events. All cars are subject to an additional pre race tech at the event.
A few fast laps with Wieslander Racing in our GT-1 Impala. Todd’s third outing during practice at Summit Point Main in Charlestown, WV. It was a beautiful and stress free day. We are finally on the track. This is Todd’s first ever at speed day in this car or in any race car for more than 10 years and he has still got “it”. He did so well and I am very proud of his professional attitude and behavior on and off the track. The straight away is coming off turn 10 and down a 2900-foot long straight with a top speed of 180+, however, we had the car dialed back a bit to preserve the engine at 7700 RPM. Once we have a different ratio in our rear differential our car will be more competitive with the shift points in better areas of the track and ungoverned top speeds of 185+ MPH. Turns 4 -7 are a slower and more technical part of the track. Many thanks to ALL of the folks at the Point for keeping us safe and our bellies full! September 3-4, 2016: WRC ran our first ever race event weekend. There was a small turnout of big bore cars but we ran a mixed class on Saturday with a field of 33 cars and on Sunday ran with just 9 big bore cars. We won both of our classes and finished 4th overall on Saturday and second on Sunday! What a great weekend for WRC and Todd.
